Caligram

For this assignment I recreated the French artist, Rene Magritte's "The Treachery of Images" painting. I decided to recreate this painting with text because the meaning behind Magritte's painting is that this pipe is merely a representation, not the real thing, much like the goal of this project being to recreate an image out of text. I learned about Magritte and this artwork in particular last semester in my visual literacy class and I thought the concept was really interesting and it resonated with me enough to be my inspiration for this project. The French text under the original famous pipe picture literally means, "This is not a pipe." which I also included in my rendition of the art as well as building the pipe out of that phrase in English. Magritte himself best describes this piece by saying,  "How people reproached me for it! And yet, could you stuff my pipe? No, it's just a representation, is it not? So if I had written on my picture

HTML5 Project

This is my first project ever using adobe dreamweaver. This was probably one of the most challenging projects I have ever done because it was all new to me. Even deciding what I wanted to create was hard, (can you tell why I changed my major so many times). This probably took me upwards 30 hours and I still did not finish it the way I would have intended to but I think because I didn't copy the inspiration image exactly, is where my own spin on it comes into play. Above is my project and below was my inspiration for the project. I have always loved cartoons and believe they shaped my creative side growing up which is why I wanted to incorporate it into my art. I used the quadratic curve for Bubbles and Buttercups hair and the bezier curve to make Blossom's bow (that alone took four hours). Overall I am glad I got a feel for the software despite the times of frustration, I can only improve my version of the Power Puff Girls, probably starting with giving them more ha

About Me

Hello everyone reading this! My name is Raelyn Brennan and what you are about to read about to read is a little backstory on myself and why I am posting this. Well for starters I kind of have to post this per the class assignment but going deeper than that I do really enjoy verbal and visual communicating through any platform (memes being my favorite) which explains my major being just that...communications. I graduated from Mercer County community college with my A.A in Liberal Arts and after taking some electives in both television and radio, in addition to realizing I have the gift of gab, I decided this field is where I should be. I am currently a full-time senior at The University of Tampa where I transferred in as a Junior making this September my first full year living in Florida. I was born and raised in New Jersey which that in itself I could write about forever because my love for that state is endless but I am going to try and keep this short so all I will say is this: It&
